RYAN THOMAS NEACE, MA, LPC, NCC, CCMHC

About Ryan

Ryan Thomas Neace holds a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy, and has a comprehensive background in mental health, entrepreneurialism, and education that spans several states and over 20 years.  He is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of Missouri and the Commonwealth of Virginia, and a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in the state of California (license #10406).  He also holds the most advanced credential offered by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) as a Board Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor (CCMHC).  Ryan is the Founder of Change, Inc., which he opened in August of 2013 with no employees, 3 empty offices, and the couch from his basement.  True story!

In July of 2019, Ryan announced his plans to take an indefinite sabbatical from his full counseling caseload to focus full-time on his role as CEO at Change, Inc., a move he executed upon fully by June of 2020.   In that role, it’s his job to make major company decisions, manage our overall operations and resources, and act as our main source of global vision and development.

In 2022, Ryan resumed clinical work through his own auspices with a small, curated virtual caseload.  He has extensive experience helping w/anxiety, depression, addiction, sexual and identity struggles, existential crises, thematic or recurring problems in relationships, and difficulties related to religious/spiritual matters. He also has particular niche expertise with CEO’s, VP’s, C-Suite Executives and business founders/owners.

From Ryan:

“Change, Inc. was created to be a place that clinicians are free to focus on helping others get healthy and, as a primary means to do that, helping themselves get healthy.   That’s our primary emphasis.  In employment relationships (and really, all relationships), we find that in order to make it work, we have to establish some protocol and some rules — they’re a way to establish trust, which anchors us during our difficult work.  So, we have enough obligations to make things work, to help things make sense, but the real depth is ‘by invitation only,’ meaning we can bring folks into the environment, we can pitch them on all the virtues of what it means to be yourself, to live authentically, to bring that vulnerable pursuit into the therapy room.  But we can never force them to do that because it requires clinicians to confront themselves, and that takes courage and support.  Our clinicians do this difficult work, and it ends up meaning that in the longterm, they are self-aware, self-knowledgeable, powerful, compelling persons in their own right.  So, do you see?! Not just compelling therapists — compelling, integrated persons!  If we do our own work in this way, we will inevitably help clients.  Their lives will cannot help but be changed.”

“I have great confidence that truth is buoyant.”
