LIZ RICH,
LMSW
Liz Rich is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) in the State of Missouri. She completed her Master of Social Work degree at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana (UIUC). Liz has experience working with adolescents, adults, parents, and families, concerning depression, anxiety, relationships, LGBTQ+ related issues, involvement in the child welfare system, body-image and relationship with food, challenges related to school, anger, impulse control, and processing trauma. Liz has a special interest in work with teens and young adults surrounding the special developments and milestones germane to that time of life, and she is also passionate about helping parents and caregivers of children diagnosed with developmental delays/disabilities, including help understanding diagnoses, the everyday challenges of parenting, and navigating systems (school, medical, etc.).
Liz’s overarching goal as a therapist is to help each client find peace, acceptance, and contentment within themselves, their body, and in their life. She strives to show every client compassion and to meet clients from a place of non-judgment, believing that every client is the expert on their own life. Liz has training in and experience with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), mindfulness, and crisis intervention and de-escalation. Liz’s approach is informed by the Health at Every Size philosophy and she practices through a lens of social justice and equity.
From Liz:
“I once had a counselor say to me ‘you don’t get into this profession unless you’ve been through hard times,’ and in a moment when I felt isolated and alone, those words were incredibly meaningful and ultimately life-changing for me. I’m here because I have had hard moments in my life (like all humans!) and I want to use what I’ve learned through those experiences and how I’ve grown, both professionally and personally, to help others find their way through the dark experiences of life. You’re not alone — I will help you!”
