About NADIIA

Nadiia Petrenko is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) in the state of Missouri. She earned her graduate degree from the School of Social Work at the State University of New York at Buffalo. Nadiia has received training in Schema Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), as well as a mix of perspectives from psychodynamic, cognitive, and behavioral frameworks. She has experience and interest working with adolescents and adults struggling with issues related to relationshipsdepression, anxiety, trauma, addiction, and more.  Also, Nadiia speaks English, Ukrainian, and Russian fluently, and is able to work with native speakers of each language.

She is also Change, Inc.’s Assistant Managing Director, meaning it’s her job to assist our Managing Director in ensuring the smooth flow of intra-company client/staff matters, particularly to attend to internal financial and documentation needs, as well as matters relating to facilities.

Nadiia is non-judgmental and disarming, yet straightforward and direct.  She has a powerful presence, and her approach to counseling is equally empowering for clients. Nadiia is particularly mindful of how environment and culture play a part in our experience of the world. She is eager to help clients tell their stories in a way that honors what they’ve been through without limiting them to an identity of victimization or dysfunction.

From Nadiia:

“It is said that what does not kill us makes us stronger, and that may be true. However, sometimes it can also cripple us, leaving us traumatized, isolated, and confused. To make matters worse, research indicates that we are creatures of habit – the longer we’ve wrestled with dysfunction in our families or our relationships or our culture, the more we are drawn to people, things, and circumstances that have a familiar dysfunction, even when they are terrible for us. Conversely, we tend to fear the unknown even when we logically understand that it holds the promise of a better outcome. Before we know it, we’re stuck doing the same things over and over. We know something about how we got there, but we usually don’t know enough to find our way out.

Therapy provides a unique and safe space to reflect, feel, search, and discover. It takes time and dedication, but it works. My deepest hope is to help you find your path, and that our time together results in something like the life you’ve always wanted. The doorway is your very own courage and strength.”

Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.
